Hello everyone, hope you are all looking forward to Christmas! I am thinking of doing a fund-raising event in the new year, and would love to know if you have any money-making ideas! I could do a sponsored silence, cake sale... but I was also thinking maybe a club night? Please comment if anyone has any suggestions :)

Myeloma UK
Okay, last post of the day. This blog is already addictive! This is just a snippet of what everyone can do to try and raise awareness of Myeloma as, like the website says, it can be pretty hard to spot! Dad was diagnosed last February after back pain for a sustained period of time, generally feeling under the weather and also if he cut himself it took a long time to heal. Of course, these symptoms could easily be mistaken for flu, or a simple paper cut! However, Dad happened to have a broken back due to the myeloma weakening his bones. So obviously the earlier that symptoms can be linked to Myeloma, the better! It's unfortunate that a lot of people simply wouldn't know the symptoms or connect it to this particular disease.Myeloma UK are trying to raise awareness of the 'Take 2 campaign' highlighting the importance of early diagnosis. Here's the link: http://www.myeloma.org.uk/get-involved/awareness-and-campaigns/the-take-2-campaign/
If you get a chance to have a look, that would be fantastic. Bye for now! :)

Myeloma man himself...
So, this is Chris, my dad. Basically he likes The Smiths, he is currently growing a 'christmas beard' (nobody knows why.) He collects vintage/old cameras, makes absolutely terrible jokes, he is an architect and is very good at drawing. The newest member of the family is Morrissey (see the connection?) who is a Tibetan Terrier puppy. Dad has just told me Morrissey is 'his new favourite child' - thanks! Here is a picture of him...and dad.
In May 2011, myself and a group of lovely ladies ran the Bristol 10K in order to raise money for Myeloma UK. It wasn't too bad, I did ache for days afterwards though! Anyway, all these ladies are amazing friends of the family, and we all had a great time running :) In total, we raised £3274.97 for Myeloma UK, which is way more than any of us expected. I'm pulling some weird facial expressions, so I apologise for that! Hopefully, I will take part in another run or fund raising event to try and raise more money.
Myeloma Man?
Hey everyone, I'm Phoebe, I'm 16 and this is my first blog. I haven't ever done this before, so forgive me if this is rubbish...hopefully I'll get better! I started this blog becuase I want to raise awareness of Myeloma, which is a cancer of plasma cells in the blood. I don't want this to be a sympathy blog, I simply just want to raise more awareness of the illness as it's one of the cancers that isn't talkled about as much as others. Why am i doing this? My dad Chris was diagnosed with Myeloma in February 2010 and has had loads of different treatments etc. Previously dad had been completely healthy so it was definately a shock to us. Myeloma is one of those diseases that actually many people have, but no-one ever really talks about. So, I just want to share dad's story with anyone who's interested really, and hopefully raise more awareness of the disease. It might take a while to get started, but hopefully this will be slightly interesting or eye-opening. If you're reading this, thank you! It's much appreciated :)
